Cleaning up...Javascript | CSS | PHP | HTML | HTML5 | MySQL | Wordpress | JQuery

It happens... You get busy, articles and writing and everything in between gets left in the dust. Projects are left unfinished and seemingly you can never get the dust off them.

So here it goes I am slowly going to try and clean off the dust off some of the many projects I once started and left semi-unfinished to nearly unfinished.

I roughly have about 15 projects in general. 2-3 which are never ending and the others could be "finishable." All of which that can be "completed" it would be sweet to finish them this year. Though even that may not be easily done.

1) URL Shortener

Yes another one... But mine is special it uses a string to integer conversion to create an id. Long as the number is less than 255 spaces it works. Which means a VERY big number... In theory it should not need to be limited (haven't calculated yet.) But I do limit the size to about 12-15 characters if an alias is used. This I had available to the public a while back at lfe.me.

Which I have recently removed the ability for public to use. I found someone had a link with over 15,000 ligit click throughs. Yes I did make it have very nice tracking...

2) Movie Database -

Sure a movie database, but so much more. Fandango and IMDB still fail to meet my needs here as my collections of movies increases I would like to be able to track where my stuff is and who even has it! Not saying much more but my project at the moment uses Freebase ( http://vidve.com

3) Website Site mapper -

Yea another one, but this one is more for fun. Idea is to make something that will create an xml site map. Along with potentially finding problem areas with title tags, meta, and other various pieces. Definitely has some work to do as when I left off there was some bugs with the mapping portion... It does have some nice features like estimated completion times and other pieces. Lets you even follow where its at in the mapping process. But again still not completed... Idea would be to eventually put this into my WareZ CMS to help evaluate problems.

4) Event Calendar -

I started this one a couple years ago which I had actually completed. I would like to make it more dynamic to handle multiple accounts that could have their own calendars along with users. It probably needs to be cleaned up more as the project scope went from simple to advanced within a blink of an eye... Which this project I learned a lot about Clients... You can't write generic scopes... You have to be specific all the way down to how something functions otherwise expectations will cost you time and money... Anyways this one does not have a link any where... As I got so fed up with it I shut it down.

5) Project Manager -

No pun intended. I started this up with some restrictions that really caused it to fail. Plan is to integrate into my CMS and possibly be its own personal tool in my set of things. At first it was suppose to be a project me and another guy worked on but due to disagreements and in the end lack of communication it had been let go off. Probably need to integrate Event Calendar and this one together to make a total package. As a calendar and task handling seems to coicide.

In the end this has some nice layering to it. The general principle behind it was completed. Allowing users to create projects, then lists, and then tasks. But the terms behind it got confusing along with a few a parts to it. Though you could do all sorts of things in this that made it pretty spiffy. Commenting, Completing, editing... Folder organization. I gotta pull it back up from the pit...

6) Dance Dictionary -

This one I have been working on when I teach dance. When I write out my classes and instruction when I run into new words I try and write in the word into the system. However at the moment I am leaving out the definition to avoid copyright and other issues. Goal is to hopefully land a deal with a book who has these already and just giving them credit some how. Project is: http://idance.mx

Along with all these I have a few others.

1) Sextant - Long story, basically think MASSIVE reporting tool. Been working on this for over a year and its finally set to launch.

2) The Bridal Style -

Wedding Pinning Board. Yea think pinterest for brides. Its got a lot of work and I have already started cleaning it up as it was not scalable past a certain point. Now I do have it on a cloud and the next step is to use CDN's for the images. But until we run into storage issues this wont be needed.

----

Definitely a lot of projects and I have tons of others in mind, but haven't the time to finish.

I have a few others that I haven't even started...

----

1) Home inventory - Just think about your home and all the contents in it. I have some simplistic ways of recording all this so if you ever "heaven forbid" need a list to give to your insurance company you have it...

2) External, Server, Hard drive manager. My wife runs two photography businesses and I have about 6-7 hard drives that all need some sort of syncing. Along with that about 2 Terabyte of pictures and working on our 3rd Terabyte. Everytime she makes an edit or changes something I need to sync these to our backups. And even potentially move stuff off site for extra safety. Big project in mind little time.

3) Adobe Atmosphere. A program I have loved and love to keep dust from settling on. I have revived one world and would like to revive two more. Possibly three as they were my most worked on.

- Battle Tank M1A1 Abrahms Simulator. I made an M1A1 tank out of primitive objects that was asked if it was modeled in a complex program. Nope it was made out of basic objects that shaped it into a beast. It was fully working and at the time I had plans to make 10 levels each ending with a boss. Which I had nearly completed level 1. Along with a battle sequence between two other tanks. So roughly two levels... But as always things never get completed...

- Multi Player Shooter - 007 Golden Eye "Complex." I had built from the greatest shooter of all time my favorite level "Complex" it worked still works I think with some possible tweaking and a YACP which I have now gotten my hands on. I plan on reviving this fully...

- Spider Killer

Never had a real name, but was my first game I made back when I was 13. So think 13+ years ago. It evolved with three different combat styles. Initially a distance fight - You get to close it hurts you, or you get close enough you hurt it. Then it evolved into a random hit system, and finally a real time swing and hit system. Gave you the ability to try all three.

Initially I planned on it having a new monster every month but again realistically do I have time to change the monster? No... Though it would be cool to replace the spider with a dragon...

Seemingly a long list of stuff. Realistically I only have time for 4 projects. One of which takes up my week usually and leaving me with my weekends to do one more which happens to be the other and then my evenings doing side projects.

Anyone got some spare time?
